Publish date: 2024-06-14

If you’re in the Altoona area, the Starlight Astronomy Club will be hosting an eclipse watch party at the Mountain Lion Night Sky Observatory at Fort Roberdeau.

Members of the club will be on hand to monitor sun gazers to make sure that they’re doing it safely.

In addition to the safety glasses, they will also have several specially modified telescopes on hand to assist those wanting to catch a glimpse of the phenomenon.

The event is free and open to the public.

It runs from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 8th.

Other locations hosting similar eclipse “watch parties” include Canoe Creek State Park, Penn State Altoona and various local libraries.
